WHAT'S WAGYU?

Wagyu 和牛 (pronounced - WAH-gyuu)
is a term that 
literally means "Japanese Cow"  

Wagyu refers to four breeds of beef cattle originating in Japan. These breeds are known for their intensely marbled meat, which is considered to be the most tender and flavorful in the world .

The most important Wagyu breed is the Kuroge Wagyu. This breed is the only one breed of the 4 cattles that can achieve an A4 and A5 rating by the Japanese Meat Grading Association

HOW THE WAGYU IS RAISED

Wagyu cattle are raised in a very specific way that contributes to the marbling of their meat.
They are typically massaged daily and fed a special diet that is high in energy.

This pampering helps to produce the intramuscular fat that gives
Wagyu beef its unique flavor and texture.

Because of the care and attention that goes into raising Wagyu cattle,
Wagyu beef is one of the most high-end meats in the world.

health benefits of wagyu

Wagyu beef does boast some health benefits compared to other types of beef.

High in
unsaturated Fats

Wagyu contains a high level of unsaturated fats with high calorie and fat content. Monounsaturated fat raises the “good” HDL cholesterol and lowers the harmful LDL cholesterol, thus preventing cardiovascular diseases.

Rich in vitamins and minerals

The beef is rich in essential vitamins and minerals such as niacin, vitamin A, zinc, and iron that fuel the body to perform its biochemical function. 

Essential Fatty Acids

Wagyu beef also contains essential fatty acids, including omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. These fatty acids are associated with a lower risk of serious health conditions like cancer, Alzheimer's disease, and cardiovascular disease .

Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA)

Wagyu beef is a good source of CLA, a fatty acid that may contribute to a lower risk of diabetes and certain diseases .
